Kio is more than a story — it’s a journey that connects children with the beauty of the ocean and the importance of caring for our planet.
What began as a picture book has grown into real projects, creative workshops, and partnerships that inspire learning through empathy, imagination, and action.
From Ibiza to Sardinia and beyond, Kio brings together educators, artists, and communities to protect the sea — one story, one child, one small act at a time.

“Kio – The Little Big Seahorse” – a children’s story inspiring love and care for the ocean, available in five languages.

Children discovering Kio’s story in a classroom workshop — connecting imagination with action for our planet.
Kio’s message comes alive through creative education and hands-on environmental projects led by Creatives for the Planet, a collective of artists, educators, and changemakers.
Together, we transform Kio’s stories into experiences that help children understand how imagination and care can protect the Earth.

From story to action – inspiring a new generation of Ocean Guardians.
“Discovering Kio on the Galaxie” is a four-step educational program that turns imagination into real impact.
The journey begins in the classroom with the reading of Kio, the Little Big Seahorse, followed by a creative workshop and reflection on marine biodiversity. Each participating school then organized its own beach cleanup, collecting a total of 80 kg of waste along the coast of Ibiza.
The experience culminates in an educational voyage aboard the zero-emission electric sailboat Galaxie, in collaboration with Love the Mediterranean and Trueworld. At sea, students explore marine ecosystems firsthand, connecting learning with lived experience.
In October and November 2025, 67 students from CEIP Sant Miquel de Balansat, CEIP Buscastell, CEIP Santa Agnès and CEIP Poeta Villangómez took part in the program. The book was also delivered to all 43 primary schools on the island.
The project was supported by the Conselleria d’Agricultura, Pesca i Medi Natural of the Govern Balear, as well as Nassau Beach Club and Tanit Beach Ibiza.
By combining storytelling, education and hands-on action, the program empowers new generations to become guardians of the sea.
Together, we transform imagination into impact.

Kio – The Little Big Seahorse
This is the first book in the Kio series. Kio, the seahorse maiden, is born during a violent storm. Troubled by the strange, colourful plastic pieces she finds in the sea, she sets out to find answers. With help from a wise octopus and a human girl concerned for the sea, she undertakes an ocean-journey of discovery and caring.
Available in five languages, this book is designed for children & families who wish to engage with marine conservation through story.
Kio – Everything in Flow
In this new volume, the story expands: told through the eyes of Kio the seahorse and a boy searching for his place in the world, the narrative explores the cycle of water and life—rivers, seas, forests, animals and humans—all interconnected. It’s poetic, heartfelt and invites children to see how every small action can ripple into change.
This next chapter reinforces Kio’s message: nothing stands still — everything is flowing, everything is linked.

The Kio House of Kids is a space created in partnership with 7Pines Resorts in Ibiza and Sardinia and Schloss Roxburghe in Scotland, where learning, creativity, and environmental awareness come together through play.
Inspired by Kio’s stories, the clubs invite children to explore nature, understand sustainability, and express their ideas through art, gardening, recycling and beach activities.
By donating to Creatives for the Planet, these hotels take real responsibility for inspiring the next generation. Their support ensures that educational workshops are carried out, that materials and guidance reach local teams, and that children everywhere can experience how small actions make a big difference for our planet.
At every Kio House of Kids, stories turn into action — nurturing curiosity, empathy, and a lasting love for the Earth and the sea.

Kio’s books and workshops invite children to imagine, care, and take action for our planet.
If you’d like to order the books, host a Kio workshop, or learn more about our collaborations, we’d love to hear from you.
Together, we can keep the ocean’s story flowing — one child, one story, one small act at a time.
Thank you for support our projects! More donations, more actions.
